Dicky and Ducky take well deserved ‘man time’ on a Golf Course while Fifi, Bella and Pixi take well deserved retail therapy in Florence. As our villa is in country Tuscany, we take a 50 minute train in then jump on the big red get on-off bus to absorb the soft atmospheric palette and gentle majesty of this beautiful city.20110513-104539.jpg

Home of Leonardo da Vinci, Dante, Brunelleschi to name a few, the Statue of David, the Uffiziand the incredibly enormous, multi marble Duomo cathedral dominating the centre…and not to forget the famous Ponte Vecchio over the River Arno, home of little overpriced jewelry shops which of course we can’t resist trawling…followed by the leather markets.

20110513-104450.jpgA €7 cup of tea…tis a tourist trap after all…then on the train home to regroup, share room service and sigh… exhausted and satisfied with the day’s haul of little gifts, cheap handbags and Bella’s lovely piece of bling.

A big day tomorrow…navigating into the very busy Rome for our next adventure.

Hi all, I’ve missed checking you out over the past four days and already you’ve crossed the boarder into Italy. Florence and Rome would be deliciously great fun this time of the year – glad you didn;t forget your walking shoes for shopping.

I am really impressed with the B&Bs chosen along the way. Is it easy to organise, and is it any cheaper than hotels???

Cannot wait to see where you are headed next. I am looking to getting back to Italy one day. Hopefully more sooner than later.

    God Bless

Hey Jane, thought you might be interested to know that a cold front came through Brissy late last week. This was after my remark on how cold you all looked in one of your pics. On Thursday morning Townsville woke to 10 degrees while it was snowing as far up as northern New South Wales.

Black Caviar opened the Winter Racing carnival in spectacular style in Brisbane yesterday – now known as the world’s greatest race horse. Beautiful looking horse!!

The flood enquiry continues as does Gordon Nuttall continue to make headlines, this time attacking his accusers and legal institutions. The budget came out a few days ago along with the usual post slinging match. Petrol coming down in price – good news. And the next season of Dr Who is back on the ABC.

I thought I saw that there was a 5.1 earthquake in Spain?? Be careful – take care.
